Hello,

I’m Tata Frenkel and this is my website where I occasionally add stuff about my art projects and more. I am an artist, I’d say a radio artist, as its all mostly about radio or other physics of communication. I will use lots of “I I I I I” in this text, because there was a need to write smth about I. I have lots of experience in education, specifically teaching, hosting workshops – I’ve worked a lot with children, from 4 years of age, till 90 maybe. I’ve been teaching in museums, universities, festivals and just art/ culture spaces. It’s usually about radio acoustic music and instruments, media art, radio stuff again etc. Well, I still do that, currently a bit less, cause I was loosing my voice some time ago, but it’s ok now – if you are interested in my edu formats, write an email. So I’ve been teaching in various places, but many of them had super bad administration, way of doing things, or were severy underpaid, or I’ve even worked in very mysoginistic and ultimately conservative in their ways teams. So I quit it all. Until I established my own educational platform, which is finally – experimental, alternative, feminist, creative, inclusive, I create a setting where arts meet sciences, but also meets tea – because this platform is also a tea project. Everything happens around the gong fu tea preparation setting. I also sell there taiwanese oolong teas, premium ones, that come from progressive, organic farms and all that jazz. I do play music, I’m a thereminist, it is a love hate relationship, I mean with the intrument. Majority of my art work and research is dedicated to defetishising or demystifying this technology, but also other radio acoustic instruments. I love radio acoustic instruments, I build them, research them as tools in communication beyond applied usage – in music, radio art, etc. Can I say that my visual works are also related to radio? I had bipolar, it is a very bipolar thing to say: ”I had” – in a past sense, well there was thyroid involved, so there is no present time, I guess. Before or during nice times, I could communicate verbally, but there are always these prolonged moments where it’s only static noise, in my mind, in everything. Remnant of the cosmic microwave background I guess. I can’t really share actual information about myself here, it is weird. I love writing, but this text was just loudly typing on my keyboard.

So I co-run a radio station, or rather a radio project “Radio Atatakai” that is focused on radio art. I don’t feel comfortable to share my portfolio (or even make one), a cv (or make one) here, but it is convenient to have it somewhere at least. Lalala.
